Most Memorable Fishing Experience: "Seeing my boy catch his first fish. Close second - catching a lake record striper (Lake Hickory, NC) after saying "I'll do it before the end of the year" in 1995.
"My claim to fame, so to speak, comes from my days as a guide. I quickly became known as one of the best, if not the best, crappie guide in North Carolina. This was mentioned in magazines and newspaper articles, I didn't ask for the notoriety. My mentor in crappie fishing, Cromer Spencer, gave me the "The Crappie Killer" nickname. Being a guide and a professional tournament fisherman has caused me some grief. Some thought I was breaking the rules, sinces guides are not allowed. So, for the last five years or so, I have concentrated on making instructional fishing videos, doing a little TV stuff, writing articles, developing a website, designing fishing equipement and just plain having fun. I am, once again, fishing the pro circuit on a limited basis. So watch out, I'm back!
